Historic Walking Tour

Located just a few miles from Downtown Charleston on the charming Shem Creek, this one of a kind tour will provide valuable ecological and historical insight to what is considered the heart of old Mt. Pleasant.
"My wife and I were visiting Charleston earlier this month when we came across Charleston Historic Tours and Captain Bryan. Captain Bryan, originally from the Charleston area, is young, very knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic."

Tours are based around Shem Creek because of its perfect introduction to the Lowcountry. Led by licensed historical guide Captain Bryan, these walking tours will show guests the important ecological and historical nature of one of Charleston’s oldest commercially used waterways. A myriad of aquatic life can be seen on these tours, including but not limited to dolphins, crabs, birds (osprey, egrets, herons, and the brown pelican) and the rare manatee. Captain Bryan also shares his knowledge regarding the importance of preservation of these waterways, and what we can all do even as non-coastal inhabitants to keep these areas around for generations to come. Tours also include a behind the scenes look into several shrimp and seafood facilities/markets along the creek as a one of a kind opportunity. As an added bonus Captain Bryan will utilize a crab trap to hopefully give you an up close look at one of our native (and delicious) species, the blue crab which are all released.
